The Do It Best and Blue Rhino are what I would call substantial fire pits. They are big and heavy as each weights over 100 lbs. There isn’t a gust of wind that will blow these two over. It weights 106lbs and comes with a nice poker.

The Do it Best, is steel with a slate top and fiberglass stand. The Blue Rhino has a stainless steel bowl and a combo slate/marble top. It weights a whopping 170lbs. It is also gas and comes with an electronic starter. No mess, no fuss, just push the button. This unit gives you plenty of room for plates and glasses. A hefty 40,000 BTUs is enough to keep a lot of toes warm and this unit comes with two covers: one for the propane tank and one for the table top. These two items alone will save you about $60.

Once again, I would certainly make sure you understand the return policy in case the slate or marble arrives damaged. Hopefully though, after having had some returns in the past Amazon or the shipper should be packing these units up much tighter.

So, big price difference, which one to buy? Only you know the limits of your budget and your lifestyle requirements. If you spend a lot of time outdoors, or, would like to but it is just too cool in the evenings, I would buy the more substantial unit, which is the Blue Rhino. If you are more of an occasional outside sitter, and if you want to be able to move the fire pit out of the way sometimes, then the fiberglass Do It Best might be the better option for you. Which ever you choose they are both great looking units.
